Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy (the "Policy") describes how notnotsponsored.com ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information in connection with the notnotsponsored.com website, any browser extension we publish, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to have your personal information handled as described in this Policy.
1. Changes to this policy
notnotsponsored.com may change this Policy at any time and for any reason. A notice of any material change will be posted on the website, and you are responsible for reviewing such changes. If you do not agree with a change, you must stop using the Service.
2. Public information
notnotsponsored.com is not in the private-data business. The creator profiles displayed on the Service are built from public data.
The names, handles, profile pictures, audience counts, links, and stated commercial relationships you see here are the same publicly displayed information you would see by visiting the account on the relevant third-party service and recording it on a given day. If information is not shown publicly on that service, it is not collected or shown on our website either. Each profile states when its data was observed and, where possible, links to its public source. Other than the information needed to operate the Service itself, as described below, we do not collect or store private information.
4. Advertising
The Service is provided free of charge today and shows no advertising. Servers cost money, so we may monetize the site through advertising or paid subscriptions in the future. If we add an advertising provider, we will name it here and link to its privacy policy before any ads appear.
5. Payments
There are no paid plans today. When paid subscriptions exist, payments will be processed by our third-party payment processor, Stripe. Your payment card details will be transmitted directly to Stripe and never touch our servers. Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy.
6. Private data
What private information do we hold? In short, not much.
If you create an account with us, you do so by signing in with Google or with a one-time code sent to your email address. Google sends us your name, email address, and whether that email address is verified. For email sign-in we store your address and, for up to one hour, a hashed code and the time it was requested so that we can limit abuse; we also keep a count of codes sent per day that contains no addresses. We do not receive or store a password, and we do not retain Google access tokens.
When you search for a creator, we record the handle you searched, whether a profile was found, and the time. We also count sign-ins, sign-outs, account creations, and account deletions. None of these records is linked to you, your account, or your device.
Lastly, the way the Internet works, every visit to any website has an IP address associated with it, so IP addresses appear in our server and network logs. This is critical for preventing abuse and for the security and operation of the Service.
To end this section, we want to be clear: the private data described above exists to operate the Service. We do not sell your private data, and we do not share it except in the limited circumstances described in this Policy.
7. How we use information
We use the information described above to operate, maintain, and improve the Service; to publish and correct creator profiles built from public information; to process payments and manage subscriptions once paid plans exist; to prevent fraud and abuse and protect the security of the Service; and to communicate with you about your account and important service notices.
8. Data retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account, the personal information associated with it is deleted, except information we retain as necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and enforce our agreements. Search records and server logs are kept for a short operational period. The public creator information displayed on the Service is not personal account data and is retained in accordance with our Terms and Conditions.
9. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information, including HTTPS everywhere and cryptographically hashed session tokens. Payment card details never reach our servers. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Data removal and corrections
To remove your account entirely, use the delete option on your account page. It removes your account, its Google sign-in link, and all sessions in one step.
If a profile describes you or an account you operate and something is inaccurate, email privacy@notnotsponsored.com with the profile link and the correction. We will check the public source and update the record. Because profiles show only what is already public on the relevant third-party service, the surest way to stop information appearing is to change what that service shows publicly; we also consider removal requests from the account holder and keep a log of changes we make.
12. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to children. Consistent with our Terms, you must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete it.
13. Third-party links
The Service includes links to third-party websites, including the public pages that profiles are built from. Access to and use of linked websites is governed by those websites' privacy policies. notnotsponsored.com is not responsible for their information practices.
14. Data sources
To build and update creator profiles, notnotsponsored.com uses the publicly available pages and interfaces of third-party services and other public sources. We gather only publicly available data from those sources, not anything private about any account.
15. California Consumer Privacy Act (Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information)
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have the right to opt out from the "sale" or "sharing" of their personal information by a company governed by the CCPA.
notnotsponsored.com collects data that helps us achieve the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. We collect categories of personal information from the following categories of sources: people who sign in to or contact the Service, and publicly available information about creators published by third-party services.
notnotsponsored.com may use or disclose personal information for the following business purposes: operating and securing the Service, publishing profiles built from publicly available information, processing payments once paid plans exist, and communicating with account holders.
Under the CCPA, some targeted advertising activities can be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. The meaning of "sale", as defined by the CCPA, is broad and includes certain types of sharing.
Currently, notnotsponsored.com does not exchange personal information for money with anyone and does not run targeted advertising. Furthermore, notnotsponsored.com does not knowingly sell or share the personal information of minors under 16 years of age.
If you wish to opt out from the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information as permitted by the CCPA, in the event we do "sell" or "share" personal information in the future, you can do so now and we will keep a record of this request. To submit a request, please send an email to privacy@notnotsponsored.com with "California Opt Out from Sale" as the subject. You must provide, at minimum, the name and email address associated with your information or account. We will only record the name and email address that you provide us.
California residents may also request to know what personal information we have collected about them, request its deletion, or request correction, by emailing privacy@notnotsponsored.com. We will verify the request against the email address on the account, respond within forty-five (45) days, and will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
16. Disputes
Any dispute relating to this Policy is governed by the dispute-resolution, governing-law, arbitration, and liability provisions of our Terms and Conditions, which are incorporated into this Policy by reference.
17. Contact us
